Foursquare engages four ways Jesus reveals his outrageous, unstoppable, generous, incomprehensible, sacrificial, cataclysmic love for you as well as the rest of us. He longs to:
- rescue us for free from all that would damage or destroy us to provide purpose and fulfillment,
- deeply relate to us through his Spirit,
- heal us where we have been mentally, physically or emotionally wounded, and
- come again for us and throw a huge banquet in our honor.
Church is people (not to be confused with buildings, institutions, courts, denunciations by the media, programs or fads) who gather in community to responsibly learn about what God, Jesus and his Spirit are really like. These people gratefully follow Jesus, grow in their worship of God, care about others, and make a difference in the world.
Crescent City Foursquare Church is taking serious Jesus’ mandate to continue his ministry in each generation, understanding we rely on the same Holy Spirit he did to humbly accomplish this mission (John 20:21-22). We have much to learn about being a thriving, missional church and are grateful to journey together. By equipping one another, each of us partners with the Spirit to be a lot more like Jesus (not to be arrogant or judgmental), to deeply care for the people around us and reflect his love (Ephesians 4:11-16). This changes, even transforms us, our families and the larger community in very dramatic ways.
Following Jesus is not about outward religiosity (which is disgusting). With authenticity, courage, tears and laughter we take one step at a time. It’s a great ride.
